Feria Parque Rodó

For a smaller feria that isn’t such a scene, there is popular, pedestrian, Sunday market that takes place in Rodó Park. While it’s more laidback than Tristán Navaja, the park can still be a mass gathering of shoppers, crafts, and commerce. This is the perfect market for buying a pair of shoes or some casual, affordable clothing, or maybe buying a mate cup in an effort to blend in with the locals. A notable benefit of shopping at the ferias is that the government-imposed IVA sales tax—which is 22%—isn’t levied on any items that are purchased or sold at street fairs. This can obviously add up to big savings, so it might be best to leave that souvenir shopping for the markets on Sunday mornings.
